Pileated soul.

Have you ever seen the bottom of the feet (sole) of a pileated woodpecker?
Now you have.
We spotted the pileated on a downed tree and it flew on to another while we were watching.
I got several really good images but this one just made me smile.

The feeding excavations of a Pileated Woodpecker are so extensive that they often attract other birds. Other woodpeckers, as well as House Wrens, may come and feed there.
