How to stay warm on a winters day.

Image
 Snuggle up.

She ain't heavy, she's my sister.

When one of the kittens sits in your lap the other will get jealous and plop right on top of the other. Neither seems to care and they just stay there. Nellie and Mickey, Sept 24, 2024.

I've got your back.

A common sight around the house, Crash and Oz sleeping together somewhere sunny.

The Bully.

Image
Oz is smaller than Crash but he intimidates the larger cat to get what he wants. Usually Oz wants whichever box Crash is in, so he sits on top of Crash until he gets his way. Crash was named due to his habit on running around and crashing into things, knocking things off shelves and, in one case knocking a shelf right out of the wall. They are indoor cats.

Buddies

Image
Crash and Ozzie curled up in the morning sun on the cat couch to have their early morning nap. Just a change up from all the bird photos

Camouflage

Camouflage , a photo by ricmcarthur on Flickr. The boys were running around the cottage going full tilt. Then it was full stop for a cat nap on the cat couch. Perfect camouflage for tired cats.

How many cats?

Image
How many cats? , a photo by ricmcarthur on Flickr. Ten? A dozen?More? These are semi-strays. Someone has built several small shelters around this old building and brings food on a regular basis. I don't know who does it but it is nice that they aren't left on their own. OPINION read this at the risk of being offended. I'm not a fan of feral cats as I am aware of how much damage they can do to the local wildlife. I take all "scientific" studies with a large grain of salt because there is a lot of estimating involved. According to Peter Marra of the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in Washington, America’s cats, including housecats that adventure outdoors and feral cats, kill between 1.4 billion and 3.7 billion birds in a year. This is a rather large range and the numbers can't be proved one way or another. I don't know if this is accurate but the numbers scare this bird watcher. There are 20 cats.

Hiding in plain sight

Image
Hiding in plain sight , a photo by ricmcarthur on Flickr. Ozzie was hiding in the bag so Crash couldn't see him. Ozzie was planning a sneak attack but it didn't work for some reason.

and he doesn't even like water.

Image
and he doesn't even like water. , a photo by ricmcarthur on Flickr. Ozzie seems to have found a new place for having his naps. Not what I expect first thing in the morning. Spiders, sure, but not cats.

Box seats

Image
Box seats , a photo by ricmcarthur on Flickr. With the Super Bowl coming up even Crash and Oz want box seats for the big show.

One eye open

Image
One eye open , a photo by ricmcarthur on Flickr. Even when sleeping Crash seems to keep one eye open for Oz. Crash is at least twice the weight and size of Oz but speed trumps size, at least around here.

Whirling dervish

Image
Whirling dervish , a photo by ricmcarthur on Flickr. Crash is never sure just where Oz is coming from. He isn't there and then,WHAM, he is there.

Mutt and Jeff

Image
Mutt and Jeff , a photo by ricmcarthur on Flickr. or possibly Laurel and Hardy. Crash is a big cat and Oz looks like he is going to be a compact cat. Oz likes to hide and then jump and crash. After the attack they take turns chasing each other around the house. Have a good weekend.
