Rondeau Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada, May 26, 2022.

Melanerpes erythrocephalus
Pleistocene-age fossils of Red-headed Woodpeckers—up to 2 million years old—have been unearthed in Florida, Virginia, and Illinois.
