It's what's for breakfast.



This Chipping Sparrow came to the water feature in the yard with a shoreline wolf spider in its beak. It seemed to be washing it before eating it.
I always thought they were strictly speed eaters.

The nest of the Chipping Sparrow is of such flimsy construction that light can be seen through it. It probably provides little insulation for the eggs and young.
