I was so popular in Pittsburgh I had them eating our of my hand, well, the birds anyway.

As part of the presentation people were given the opportunity to feed various birds.
I had a handful of meal worms and several species came in to eat. This beauty devided to stay and gooble down as many as it could.

The dark area to the right is due to Anne using the long lens, I couldn't crop it all out.

Have a good weekend.

The Dog Food Diet

Yesterday I went to Wal-Mart to buy a large bag of Purina dog chow for our hunting-dog, Blanche. I was standing in line about to check out, and a woman behind me asked if I had a dog.

First thing I thought was, lady, where is your sign that says "Please excuse me, but Im reeealllly dumb", but I decided to go with it.

So.....on impulse.....I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, and that I was starting the Purina Weight Loss Diet AGAIN. I said I probably shouldn't, because I'd ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in the intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IV's in both arms. I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is, you load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets, and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is nutritionally complete... so I was going to try it again.

I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now enthralled with my story to say the least.

Totally horrified, the lady asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food had poisoned me.

I told her "NO WAY!! It was because I stepped off the curb to sniff a beautiful Irish Setter's ass, and a car hit us both.

I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard.

And WAL-MART has asked me not to shop there anymore.

the early bird get's the worm

As part of the experience at the National Aviary people had the opportunity to feed the birds.
This young fellow held a worm up and within seconds a starlin, yes it is a starling, swooped down and snatched the offering.

Got my eye on you

Hyacinth Mackaw

We took a four day weekend and went to Pittsburgh, willingly.

Zoos, museums, gallerys, aviary, botanical gardens, sports in season and much more.

The only problem with Pittsburgh is no matter where you want to go, you can't get there from where you are.
From our motel we wanted to go to Phipps Botanical Gardens. First we had to go to North Dakota, make our way thru to New Hampshire, hang a right.....
We had a GPS unit and eventually made it to our destinations. Without the GPS I would have turned around and left.
Inca tern
That's assuming I could figure out where the exit was.

beauty is in the ....... of the beholder

Technically I didn't take this photo but I was part of the process.

I had my eyes checked yesterday and they now take a digital photo of the inside of the eye. Being a little odd I asked for a copy.

My eyes are nice and healthy, I just can't read without glasses. Normal for a 60 year old.

Please, don't get them confused

I'm not sure what they have in mind.

Maybe they are going to put Rover in the back seat of the car and roll down all the windows. Wonder if you get a discount.

It isn't a combination I would have thought of.
It would be like Laundromat and PEt Wash. The spin cycle is really tought. :-)

What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about?

I put my right foot in,
I put my right foot out,
I give my right foot a shake, shake shake
And I turn myself about.
That's what it's all about.

That's an ice hat you have there.

It was so cold that Mother Nature took pity on this bronze headed fellow.

The mist from the Falls settled on his head creating a hat or a really bad wig. Odd how the face escaped the misting.

Lots of ice and snow around here today. Stay warm

We were looking for the Ross' Gull at Niagara falls and took a break and went to the aviary.

Don't know what it is but it sure was cute.

The ice on the falls and in the trees was fantastic, unfortunately it was a grey day and the lighting was poor.
